The NCVMA and Friends of NCVMA Foundation have been working with large animal veterinarians in Western North Carolina to identify areas of need that are related to Hurricane Helene.
One area of need is equine veterinary care in the Northwestern part of the state. This area was hit hard and there are no large animal veterinarians that we can identify in this area. Friends is sponsoring equine vaccination clinics in Mitchell County and Ashe County the weekend of Oct. 4-5. The cost is $25 per horse and covers vaccinations and deworming. Horse owners are asked to register in advance to ensure we have enough vaccines on hand at the event. You can pay in advance online or pay in person. Checks should be made out to FRIENDS OF NCVMA FOUNDATION.
Volunteers needed:
We need veterinarians, helpers with equine or large animal experience, and people to help direct traffic and do other odd jobs as needed.
If you would like to help, please sign up online at the location you prefer.
