Animal Welfare Grant
NCVMA Public + Private Animal Shelter Fund
The NCVMA offers a one-time grant of up to $2,500 to help NC animal shelters make improvements and remain compliant with the NC Department of Agriculture + Consumer Services’ inspection guidelines.

Our Animal Welfare Grants help NC animal shelters in need so they may continue to help animals in need.
How Grant Funds Help NC Animals
Funds may be used to repair housing or to make facility upgrades that support animal welfare in the shelter. Grant monies from the NCVMA may not be used for personnel expenditures or medications.

Past Recipients
In 2024, the NCVMA awarded funds to the Lee County Animal Shelter to repaint kennels and purchase a shade tent for the outdoor dog yard.

Review Process + Dispersal of Funds
Grant proposals are reviewed by the NCVMA Animal Welfare Committee and awarded based on financial and physical need. Successful applicants will be notified by email or telephone after the review process.
We encourage grant recipients to take before and after photos of shelter improvements and submit a report detailing the work’s completion or forward a copy of their follow-up shelter inspection within 30 days of receiving funds.
