About our speakers

Speaker Nicky McNeely, BS, RVT, oversees regulatory compliance for VetsPets hospitals and has a passion for the topic. Nicky is a highly skilled veterinary technician, accomplished educator, and trainer whose achievements and experience reflect a strong commitment to advancing the profession. She’s a lifelong learner and innovative leader dedicated to upholding high clinical standards, sharing knowledge, and supporting initiatives that foster the growth of colleagues. Her enthusiasm for all things regulatory will make it easy for to understand and gain practical new skills for your regulatory compliance programs.

Dr. Mike Martin, State Veterinarian, and Dr. Ed Faulkner, former NCVMA president and Charlotte-area veterinary hospital owner, are both current members of the NC Veterinary Medical Board. They understand the pressure that a veterinarian or practice feels when dealing with the board, and they want to share their insider knowledge to help smooth your next interaction.

  • Opioid CE Training: Regulatory Compliance and Diversion Prevention | 2 hours CE
    Speaker: Nicky McNeely, BS, RVT
    Learn key opioid regulations and strategies for diversion prevention. This session covers federal and state requirements for prescribing and dispensing controlled substances, recognizing misuse, and effective compliance to safeguard against opioid abuse. This session also counts as your yearly 2-hour NCVMB-mandated opioid training!

1 PM – 4 PM: Afternoon Sessions

  • What you need to know about the NC Veterinary Medical Board | 1 hour CE
    Speakers: Dr. Michael Martin and Dr. Ed Faulkner, NCVMB Board members
    No one wants to get a letter or notice from the NCVMB. But it’s not necessarily cause to freak out. Yet. Two board members give some words of advice for a practice when you get a complaint, and share the reason most complaints make it to the board in the first place.
