General Information
Join the North Carolina and Virginia Veterinary Medical Associations’ second annual Appalachian Mountain Veterinary Conference
at the beautiful Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. New this year are two tracks on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to Dermatology,
we have Dr. Ernest Ward leading a practice management session (see schedule of events). This is a great opportunity for veterinary
technicians, office managers and other paraprofessionals to learn and take home practical information about efficiently running an
office and improving client communication.
Pre-registration is required. You may register online or fax the registration form with your credit
card number, or mail the form with a check made payable to the Appalachian Mountain Veterinary Conference.
The registration deadline is May 15. Registrations received after this date cannot be guaranteed a copy of the proceedings.
Refunds, less a $75 administrative fee, will be made only upon receipt of a written request. No refunds will be made after
May 15.
Activities
Thursday - Reception
Thursday evening the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary and the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine will
host a reception in the exhibit hall. Bring the family and enjoy meeting new friends and visiting with old acquaintances.
There may even be some prizes given away!
Friday - NCVMA Membership Breakfast
Election of NCVMA officers will take place at this sit-down breakfast. In addition you will hear up-to-the-minute news from
AVMA. All registrants are invited to attend. (Tickets are required and cost $5.00 each.)
Friday - NCVMA Installation/Awards Luncheon
Join your colleagues at lunch as new officers are installed and the following awards are presented: Young Veterinarian of the
Year, Clinician of the Year, Veterinarian of the Year, Martin Litwack Award and Distinguished Veterinarian. All registrants are
invited to attend. (Tickets are required and cost $10.00 each.)
Friday evening - Dinner and Tour of Biltmore House
Dine at the Deerpark Restaurant, one of the original outbuildings on the Estate, located approximately three miles from the
Biltmore House. This evening, the restaurant will be serving their fabulous Seafood Buffet. After dinner, a custom guided tour
is being arranged for you that will include a walk through the restored rooms on the first and fourth floors of Biltmore House
as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the Louis XV Suite that will be in the process of being restored. You will be among the
very first to see these rooms before they are completed and added to the regular tour route. Transportation is provided. Tickets
are $75 per adult, $62.50 per youth (ages 10-16) and $44.50 per child (ages 9 and younger).
Saturday afternoon - Appalachian Mountain Veterinary Conference Charity Golf Tournament
Come and play at the Grove Park Inn Golf Resort with a 1:00 pm shotgun start. This is the Second Appalachian Mountain Veterinary
Conference Charity Golf Tournament. Thanks to our sponsors, you will be able to play for only $80 on the Donald Ross course while
helping the New Leash on Life Dog Rescue. The format will be a two-person best ball or two-person scramble (you choose) event.
You can make your own team, or we’ll be glad to set you up with a partner. There’s limited space so sign up early. For more

Saturday evening - Gatsby Gala at the Grove Park Inn Dinner Dance
Where else but the Grove Park Inn can you experience a wondrous evening of fine food and dancing? Whether you come “dressed to
the nines” or in your “Sunday best,” you’ll have a magical time. Dine on a delicious four-course dinner. Dance the night away as
“U’Neek Flavur” entertains you with your favorite songs. Cost for dinner $40 per person.
Saturday evening - Children’s Party
While you attend the Gatsby Gala, your children can have a ball at their own party just down the hall. Food and games will be
supervised by veterinary students from NC State and VA-MD Regional College. Cost per child 4-12 is $10 each.
